A Stroke of Clarity

It was during an ad-hoc, coastal road trip south of Sydney that we stumbled across a little haven of makers and artists at The Timbermill in Bulli and were lucky enough to peek into Renee’s studio. Instantly coming up the stairs of the old mill, we were greeted by a sea of ocean blues and turquoise skies that drew us into her little corner studio full of colour and activity.

We lost track of time the instant we got talking. Renee’s journey and how she came to be the stunningly talented artist she is today is not far from our own. After a career in the hustle and bustle of the city she always felt a strong pull to fully immerse herself in her own creativity. Listening to her heart, some years into her career she packed up and moved to France and later Greece where she studied fine arts with the goal of creating her own art and professional studio.

The openness and ease with which Renee spoke about her passion in art was infectious and inspiring. Her encouragement and enthusiasm for our early plans solidified our idea to continue on in our journey to create Ocean to Stable. So, naturally her artwork celebrating vast landscapes of coastal and country vistas were the perfect fit and a gift we couldn't wait to share with you.

Coffee With Renee

• What inspires you the most? Nature, it’s colours texture and the movement of the ocean.
  
  
• What motivated you to pursue fine arts? The joy I get from the creative process and the smiles I'm able to bring to my clients, I feel very honoured when my artworks are hung in their homes.
  
  
• What is your favourite quality about yourself? Positivity, I'm always looking for the good in everything and everyone. I greet every day with a smile.
  
  
• Favourite recipe and why? My Mother's traditional Chicken Soup - it reminds me of home and mends every ailment!
  
  
• Favourite band, and fondest memory of them? Fleetwood Mac! My first live concert seeing them in Sydney.
  
  
• Favourite space in your house? The Bedroom. It's calm, peaceful and can change with the season in an instant with new pillows, duvet and throws.
  
  
• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Have faith in yourself and your ability to shine in what you choose to pursue.
